He was the grandson of John Nicholas Grindstaff (1770-1851) and Katherine Sarah Grindstaff (175 - abt 1832). Andrew married Nancy C. Moreland (1833-1917). They were married on July 10, 1853. Andrew Jackson Grindstaff is listed on the 1910 census as Jackson J. Grindstaff, which is an error of the census taker. Andrew died shortly after the census was taken. Andrew and wife Nancy lived in Limestone Cove, Carter County, TN.
