    To all whom these presents shall come, Greeting. Know ye that we for
    and in consideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred
    acres hereby granted, paid into our treasury by John Arnold have given
    and granted and by these presents do give and grant unto the said John
    Arnold a tract of land containing one hundred acres lying and being in
    our county of Washington on the East fork of Cobs Creek, Beginning at a
    spanish oak on the point of a ridge, thence South Ninety five poles to
    a White oak on the south side of a branch, thence East one hundred and
    forty poles to a white oak on the side of a mountain, thence North
    thirty East forty poles to a chestnut oak on the side of a big ridge,
    thence North Ninety poles to a White oak on the side of a hill, thence
    South eighty West one hundred and sixty four poles to the first corner,
    as by the plat hereunto annexed doth appear: together with all woods,
    waters, mines, minerals, hereditaments and appurtances, to the said
    land belonging or appertaining: To hold to the said John Arnold his
    heirs and assigns forever yielding and paying to us such sums of money,
    yearly or otherwise as our General Assembly from time to time may
    direct provided always that the said John Arnold shall cause this grant
    to be registered in the Registrar's office of our said County of
    Washington within twelve monthe from the date hereof otherwise the same
    shall be void and no effect, an testimony where we have caused these
    our letters to be made patent and our great seal to be hereunto affixed

    Commander in Chief at Newburn the tenth day of November in the ninth
    year of our independence and in the year of our Lord one thousand

    and state of Tennessee Being of Sound
    and Perfect Mind and memory Blesed
    Be God; Do this 18th day of Jenuary in
    The Year of our Lord one thousan Eight
    Hundred and twenty four, Make and
    publish this My Last will and testament
    In Manner and Form that is to say
    Furst I give and Bequeath unto My Beloved wife
    Mary Arrandal the Rone Mair and two
    Cows Her choise two Beds in the house
    all the Shelf Furniture and castings
    and All the shepp and the Home gang
    of hogs and her Saddle all for use her
    Lifetime and at her Death to Dispose
    off as She thinks proper.

    2ly I give and Bequeath unto My son William
    Five Head of cattle and the oald horse cald Dick.

    3ly I give and Bequeth unto My Daughter
    Elizabeth two cows and one Bed.

    4ly I give and Bequeath unto My Son Jarrit
    The yong Bey horse and the new Rifle gun
    My saddle and saddle bags one bed five head
    of cattle and one colt that sucks the Mair which
    Is to be valid and the price to My granDaughter
    Araminty when She becomes able to take care of it
    Half the wild Hogs to Jarret My son.

    5ly I give and Bequeath unto My
    Son Richard Four cows and three head of
    year oald cattle and half the wild hogs.

    6ly I give and Bequeath unto my Daughter
    Hetty one cow and the Bed She has
    at home and the bason She has there
    Also the Bey Mair.

    7ly I give and Bequeath unto Hugh Bunten who
    I have Raisd one Rifle gun and
    one two year oald Heffer.

    Married:
    The will of John Arrandall (sic) named the five children shown in this record. There were five other persons with the Arrendell surname who lived in Johnson County that, because of their age and location, could have been John's children. These were Alexander, Andrew, Elijah, John Jr., and Meredith D. Since there are no civil records which prove that these five were John's children, and since they were not mentioned in his will, they will be carried as separate family groups pending additional information.
