    David Snyder David Clarence Snyder, age 91, of Shady Valley, Tennessee and a resident of Mountain City Care Center, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2010 at the Mountain City Care Center. He was born on January 26, 1919 to the late Fred and Margaret Phillips Snyder. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his first wife, Flora Etta Snyder; and infant daughter; three sisters; three brothers and his second wife, Virginia Nelle Potter Snyder.
    David was retired from the Tennessee Highway Department and loved farming. He was a member of Shady Valley Baptist Church.
    David is survived by his four children: Carloyn McCraken and husband Henry of Bristol, TN, Daniel Jarrett Snyder of the home, Rachel Walker and husband Delos of Shady Valley, TN and Linda Potter and husband Thurl of Mountain City, TN; grandchildren: Michael Garland, William Bishop, Diane Grindstaff, David Bishop and Shelly Haynes stepchildren: Willa Adams of VA, Earlene Lay of Mountain City, TN; Bitha Lu Pardue of NC; David Kirby of Mountain City, TN and Kathy McFadden, also of Mountain City, TN; one brother, Ray Snyder of Mountain City, TN; twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

    David married Flora E. Nelson about 1943. Flora was born on 21 Sep 1925; died on 1 Nov 1977; was buried in Gentry Cemetery, , Johnson County, Tennessee. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Daniel Jarrett Snyder, age 77, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022 in Erwin, TN. Daniel was born on May 17, 1944 to the late David Clarence Snyder and Flora Nelson Snyder.

    Daniel was a very kind and giving man. He always wanted to help people any way that he could; he would gladly give someone the shirt off his back. He loved music, his chickens, and wood-working. Daniel had a big heart for animals and fed many strays in his community. He was a member of Shady Valley Baptist Church and loved going while he was able.

    Those left to cherish his memories include his sisters, Carolyn McCracken and husband Henry of Bristol, TN, Rachel Perdue and husband Henry of Shady Valley, and Linda Potter of Mountain City; nieces and nephews, Diane Grindstaff (Pete) and Shelly Haynes, Michael Garland, William Bishop, and David Bishop.

    The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Mountain City Funeral Home with Michael Garland officiating. The burial will follow at the Shady Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
