    JONESBOROUGH -Mrs. Violet McKee, age 93, Jonesborough, on this day, Wednesday, August 18, 2021 God granted her special prayer that she could go home to be with her husband, sisters, brother and parents. We know they were waiting to welcome her home with open arms. She is safe at last with her Lord and Savior.

    Mrs. McKee was born on August 4, 1928 in Washington County and the daughter of the late Jake & Annie Casey Phillips. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Calvin McKee, brother, James Phillips (Elizabeth), sisters, Annie Rambo (Bud), Bess Nelson (Wayne), Mary Ferguson (Rev. Bill), Lucille Phillips, and Carrie Holtsclaw (Ed).

    She was a member of Jonesborough Baptist Tabernacle.

    Survived by special caregivers’ niece, Carolyn & Roy Constable, niece, Joyce Bailey; two very special friends, Bodie and Brylee Puckett, they brought much joy to Violet’s life; sister-in-law, Louise McKee, several nieces and nephews.

    Family request no food or home visits at this time due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

    Friends may come by Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home from 10:00-2:00 PM Friday, August 20, 2021 to sign and the register and view.

    Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am, Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Cherokee Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Jamie Ferguson officiating.

    JONESBOROUGH - Mildred Faye Greene 82, of Jonesborough passed away Thursday, February 6, 2020 after an extended illness.

    Mrs. Greene was born in Unicoi County and the daughter of the late Henry Clay & Alma Julia Jenkins Casey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Greene, three brothers, one sister and one great-granddaughter.

    Mildred retired from the Town of Jonesborough after twenty-five + years.

    She is survived by three sons, Dr. Richard Greene Jr. and wife Janice of Florida, Randy Greene and wife Tonya of Erwin, and Marty Greene; two sisters, Janice Garland (Don) and Sharon Rogers (Danny); five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Dillow- Taylor Funeral Home. The service will follow at 2:00 with Rev. Timothy Rogers officiating.

    Interment will follow at Bumpass Cove Cemetery Erwin TN.

    Pallbearers will be Mike McCracken, Jimmy Neese, and Tyler Briggs.

    JONESBOROUGH - Steve A. Casey, 65, Jonesborough, died following a brief illness, on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

    Steve was a native of Jonesborough and a lifelong Washington County resident. He was a son of the late Zack Casey and Mary Ethel Smith Casey Hollifield.

    Steve worked as a Supervisor at American Water Heater, where he retired in 2018 following forty-five years of service.

    He was a Baptist.

    Steve loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and camping.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Casey Hambrick, and a niece, Tammy Renee Casey.

    Steve is survived by his loving wife of forty-five years, Brenda Whetsell Casey; his daughter; his step-daughter, Karen Oliver and husband Paul, Hampton; his brother, James Casey and wife Angela, Jonesborough; three sisters, Cora Sutphin and Joe Hulse, Jonesborough, Mary Lou Estrada and husband Lupe’, Erwin, Sandra Barnett and husband Tim, Johnson City; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, Stevie and Tasha Tolley, both of Johnson City; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive friends Sunday, April 4, 2021, from 5:00-7:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home. Those planning to attend are asked to please wear a mask or protective face covering, and to practice appropriate social distancing.

    A graveside funeral service for Steve will be held Monday, April 5, 2021, at 1:00 P.M., in Bethesda Cemetery, 4708 Cherokee Rd., Jonesborough, TN 37659. Rev. Scotty Phillips will officiate. Pallbearers will be J.J. Casey, Tim Barnett, Jeffery Casey, Joey Sutphin, Eddie Gillen, Doug Bogart, Stevie Tolley and Paul Oliver.

    JONESBOROUGH - Cora Ann Casey Sutphin, 65, Jonesborough passed away Saturday, June 11, 2022 in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Erwin and was a daughter of the late Zack Casey and Mary Ethel Smith Hollifield. Cora attended Embreeville Freewill Baptist Church. She had worked at Jay Sweeney’s Auto Sales for over 22 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Casey; a sister, Kathy Hambrick; her loving step-father, Floyd Hollifield; a nephew, Jason Casey and a niece, Tammy Casey.

    Cora Ann Sutphin, a wonderful, kind hearted, loving woman. She loved to spend time with her granddaughter and cook for the family. She loved her family, they were her pride and joy. Cora loved camping, going to the beach and really just loved to be on vacation. She loved grilling out to get everyone together, cross stitching, crocheting and shopping were her favorite past times. Cora loved to go to church and sing gospel music. She loved auctions and traveling. Cora was a lovely, caring, wonderful, kind-hearted, amazing woman and will be heavily missed.

    Survivors include her partner-in-love of 33 years, Joe Hulse of Jonesborough; A son, Joey Sutphin and special friend, Katie Bowser; a granddaughter, Kenzie Sutphin of Jonesborough; a brother, James Casey of Jonesborough; two sisters, Mary Lou Estrada and husband, Lupe of Erwin and Sandra Barnett and husband, Tim of Johnson City; nieces and nephews, Linda Casey, J.J. Casey, Samantha Barry, Jeff Casey and Betty Cope; great nieces and nephews, Lindsey, Logan and Landon Barry, Taylor, Zack, Ezra, Leanna, Samuel, Jallen and Dawson Casey and Raelynn Clouse.

    Funeral services for Cora will be conducted at 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 15, 2022 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Rev. Calvin Lester and Rev. Conrad Goodman officiating. The family will receive friends form 5:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Bethesda Cemetery, Lamar Community, Jonesborough. Pallbearers will be J.J. Casey, Jeff Casey, Lupe Estrada, Brian Whetsell, Stevie Tolley, Tim Barnett, Toby Crain, Harvey Norton and Zach Casey.

    BETHLEHEM, GA - Pamela Sue McNabb, age 61, Bethlehem, GA, formerly of Jonesborough, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019 at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, GA.

    Ms. McNabb was born in Erwin, TN and the daughter of the late Claude & Helen Casey Richardson.

    She was a Teacher's Aide at Lamar Elementary School for twenty years.

    Ms. McNabb was a member of Cherry Grove Baptist Church and attended Bethlehem Church while living in Georgia.

    Survivors include three daughters, Natalie McNabb (Jeffrey Matteson), Olivia Amiscaray (Clint), all of Bethlehem, and Rachel McNabb, Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Kenna Amiscaray, Graham Amiscaray, Adaline Amiscaray and Kylie Boozer; three sisters, Kathy Camp (Jackie), Tammy Roberts (Roger) and Sheila Lafollette; and several nephews and nieces.

    Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday, March 11, 2019 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Jon Reed and Mr. Jackie Camp officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm Monday prior to the service. Interment services will follow at Cherry Grove-Keplinger Cemetery.

    Pallbearers will be Jon Reed, Matt Doster, Tommy Wilson, Clint Amiscarary, Jeffrey Matteson and Jackie Camp.

    Connie Jane Casey Purcott went home to the Lord after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, March 26th, at the VA Medical Center in Johnson City.

    Connie was the daughter of the late Howard Casey and Barbara Ann Nelson Casey of Jonesborough. Beloved wife and mother, Connie is survived by her husband, Robert J. Purcott of Johnson City; sons, Erik C. Purcott of the home and Joshua A. Purcott of Johnson City; brothers, Paul Casey, Lynn Casey (Kara) and Ronnie Casey of Jonesborough, as well as several nieces and nephews.

    A veteran of The U.S. Army, Connie served as a medical technologist at Fort Sam Houston in Texas and later worked at UT Medical Center in Knoxville and the VA Medical Center in Johnson City.

    Connie was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and enjoyed cooking and the outdoors.

    A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 29th at 2:30 at the National Cemetery (Mountain Home)
