    DEATHS
    Mrs. Mollie Cress, 87, Rt. 7, Elizabethton (Lincoln Drive) died in Johnson City Memorial Hospital at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday after an illness of three weeks.
    Mrs. Cress was a native of Johnson County, having resided in Elizabethton for the past 33 years. She was the daughter of the late Alfred S. and Augusta Rainbolt McQueen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus G. Cress in 1955. She was a member of the Baptist Church and the last charter member of the Cobb's Creek Church at Butler.
    Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Floy Baily, Roanoke, Va., Mrs. Loretta Miller, Gary, Ind., Mrs. Winnie Ornduff, Elizabethton, Mrs. Sally Jones, Covington, Va., and Mrs. Ruby Wenzel and Mrs. Jean Wenzel, both of the home; two sons, Blake of Hattisburg, Miss., and James, Elizabethton; 34 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services wee conducted from the Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home Chapel, Friday, 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Henry Colvard and the Rev. W. W. Ward officiating. Mrs. Georgia Cox was the organist, and the Younce Brothers were in charge of the music. Burial was in the Happy Valley Memorial Park.
    Active pall-bearers[sic] were the grandsons, Gilbert Ornduff, Delmore Ornduff, Donald Ross, Kenneth Kelley.
    Flower-bearers were friends and neighbors.
    Hathaway-Percy was in charge of arrangements.

    Mollie married Rufus Greenmore Cress about 1901 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. Rufus (son of George Washington Cress and Mary Loretta Stout) was born on 22 Nov 1874 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; died on 3 Jul 1955 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    ELIZABETHTON – Mrs. Loretta A. Miller,100, formerly of 314 Lincoln Drive, Elizabethton, passed safely into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at Hillview Health Center following an extended illness.

    Mrs. Miller was the daughter of the late Rufus and Mollie McQueen Cress and was born in Johnson County, TN. She had also lived Indiana.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lattie Miller, on January 25, 1983; five sisters, Ruby Wenzel, Jean Wenzel, Sally Jones, Winnie Ornduff, Floy Daily and two brothers, Blake Cress and James Cress.

    Mrs. Miller was the oldest living member of Hunter First Baptist Church and was a former employee of Elizabethton Hosiery, Bemberg and she retired from U.S. Steel. She loved to crochet, embroider and especially to read her Bible.

    She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth C. and Mary June Miller, Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Pamela Miller, Johnson City, Michael Miller and his wife, Tammy, Elizabethton, Susan Gibson and her husband, Don, Donna Taylor and her husband, Sam, Julie Beale and her husband, Sam, all of Johnson City; six great-grandchildren; and a favorite nephew whom she fostered when he was a child, Nolan Miller, IN. Many other loving nieces and nephews also survive.

    A graveside service will be conducted for Mrs. Miller on Friday, February 19, 2010, at 3:00 PM at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Sherrel Nave and Rev. Grant Whittenbarger officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family members. Honorary pallbearers will be Gilbert Ornduff, John Ornduff, Don Ross, Richard Hardin and Powell Wilson. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 2:00 PM Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.

    Friends and family are invited to visit the funeral home between the hours of 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM on Friday at their convenience.

    Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Hale Community Ministries of Carter County, 1301 Arney Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643.

    The family would like to express a very special thank you to the staff of Hillview Health Center for all the love and care shown to Mrs. Miller during her time there.

    Reba C. Ross, age 85, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at her residence, following an extended illness.
    Reba was a daughter of the late John B. and Winnie Cress Ornduff.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
    Mrs. Ross was born in Johnson County, Tennessee, but had lived in Carter County most of her life. She was a former employee of Iodent and was the former owner and operator of Happy Hair Beauty Salon. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
    Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Don Ross, of the home; a daughter, Dena Jupin, Augusta, GA; a son, Ronn Ross and wife Donna, Valdosta, GA; one grandson, Chris Jupin and wife Anita, Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Gilbert Ornduff and wife Ann, Elizabethton, and Rufus Ornduff, Columbia, SC; four sisters, Maria Ward, Erma Nidiffer, Sharon Holmes and husband David, and Olga Rice, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    A graveside service to honor the life of Mrs. Reba C. Ross will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Ron Owens and Rev. Travis Tyler, officiating.
    Active pallbearers will be selected from the men of Grace Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Vivian Clark and Tammy Draper.
