    Clarence Tolley, 78, 112 Clarence Tolley Lane, Scioto Community, Unicoi,
    died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at Johnson City Medical Center.
    Mr. Tolley was a native of Carter County and had lived in Unicoi County for
    the past 60 years. He was a son of the late Dock and Jane Moore Tolley and was
    also preceded in death by two brothers, John Tolley and Jim Tolley, and
    three sisters, Manda Carver, Mary Bowers and Nancy Brummett.
    Mr. Tolley was a member of the CCC's and was a U.S. Army veteran, having
    served in World War II. He retired from the U.S. Forestry Service. He attended
    Unicoi Church of God.
    Survivors include his wife, Irene J. Robinette Tolley, Unicoi; a son and
    daughter-in-law, Jerry D. and Teresa Tolley, Virginia Beach, Va.; two daughters
    and a son-in-law, Anne and Hobart Roberts and Deborah Brummitt, all of
    Unicoi; a sister, Eula Boling, Lake Placid, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Douglas
    W. Roberts, Eric A. Brummitt, Justin D. Brummitt, Rachel C. Tolley and
    Elizabeth J. Tolley. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    Unicoi Funeral Home, 4428 Unicoi Drive, Unicoi, (423) 743-1381 or (423)
    928-4595, is in charge of arrangements.

    TOLLEY -- Funeral services for Clarence Tolley, 78, 112 Clarence Tolley
    Lane, Scioto Community, Unicoi, who died Sunday, March 17, 2002, will be held at
    8 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, from the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor
    Ronnie Holloway and Pastor Dexter Brummitt officiating. Music will be provided
    by Luanne Powers. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m.
    Wednesday, March 20, at Roselawn Memory Gardens, Johnson City. Full military
    grave rites will be rendered by the Kingsport VFW Post #3382. Active pallbearers
    will be Don Brummett, Gerald Brummett, Alan Brummett, Page Powers, James
    Powers, Jimmy Brummett, Larry Brummett and Edison Wallin. Honorary pallbearers
    will be the Men's Sunday School Class of Unicoi Church of God. Pallbearers are
    requested to assemble at the funeral home by 730 p.m. Tuesday and at the
    cemetery by 1030 a.m. Wednesday. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8
    p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a
    daughter, Mrs. Hobart (Anne) Roberts, 116 Clarence Tolley Lane, Unicoi. The
    family, pastors and friends may meet at the cemetery by 1050 a.m. Wednesday.

    She married William O'Shaughnessy on 1 July 1967.

    She was the owner/operator of the Forget Me Not home in Canton, Ohio for many years. With the help of her residents, she was the nurse, aide, cook, & housekeeper.

    At the age of 84, Faye passed away on 20 May 2013 in Canton, Ohio of leukemia.

    May 22, 2001, at Johnson City Medical Center.
    Mr. Tolley was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Jim and Posie
    Guinn Tolley. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and three
    brothers.
    Mr. Tolley was a retired employee of Republic Steel, Canton, Ohio. He was a
    Free Will Baptist and attended the Valley Forge House of Prayer.
    Survivors include his wife, Callie Johnson Tolley; two daughters, Judy Byrd,
    Johnson City, and Molly Lingerfelt, Hampton; three sons, Terry L. Tolley and
    Leslie Keith Tolley, both of Elizabethton, and Mitchell Tolley, Hampton;
    three sisters, Irene Davis, Jonesborough, Ethel Coffey, East Canton, Ohio, and
    Fay O'Shaughnesse, Canton, Ohio; and four brothers, McKinley Tolley, North
    Industry, Ohio, Earl Tolley, Louisville, Ohio, Dillard Tolley, East Canton,
    Ohio, and Cecil Tolley, Hampton. Eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren
    and several nieces and nephews also survive.
    Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

    TOLLEY -- Funeral services for Mack Mitchell Tolley, 66, 6551 Highway 19E,
    Roan Mountain, who died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m.
    Thursday, May 24, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Charlie Russell
    officiating. Music will be provided by The Blood Bought Quartet. Graveside
    services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, in the Tolley Cemetery,
    Whitehead Hill. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the
    cemetery at 1050 a.m. Friday, will be Landon Lingerfelt, Steve Byrd, Michael
    Tolley, Ikie Tolley, Billy Hurley and Ronnie Reece. Honorary pallbearers will be
    the Staff of the Second and Fourth Floors and ICU of Johnson City Medical
    Center and the men of Valley Forge House of Prayer. The family will receive
    friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at
    the residence of a son, Mitchell Tolley, 104 Whittemore Road, Hampton
    (Fairview Community). Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 1050 a.m.

    Cecil Tolley, 75, a life-long resident of the Fairview Community in Hampton, entered into eternal rest with our Lord on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness and complications from a massive heart attack.
    Cecil, who was of the Freewill Baptist Faith, attended Fairview Freewill Baptist Church as a child. He was the last surviving son of 13 children of the late Jim and Posie Whitehead Tolley. A student at Fairview School and a Hampton Bulldog, Cecil left school in his teenage years to care for his ailing mother.
    A life-long farmer, Cecil served many years at Johnson City's Magnavox Plant and retired due to visual disability from the Unicoi County Gas Utility District. He cherished listening to the county police scanner, telling jokes, spending time with his family while eating Long John Silver's fish or Kentucky Fried Chicken and loving his wife of 54 years, Georgia Blevins Tolley.
    Cecil, affectionately known as "Pops," "Papaw," Pap," and "Old Man," was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Victoria Faith McQueen; his brothers, infant Lonnie, Ronnie, Carl, Mack, Ken, Dillard and Earl Tolley; and his sisters, infants Catherine and Christine Tolley, Faye (Bill) O'Shaughnessy, Ethel (Oscar) Coffey and Irene (Lloyd) Davis.
    In addition to his wife, Cecil is survived by their children, Betty and Jobe Tolley, Hampton, Kitty Tolley, Hampton, Cecil Wayne Tolley, Hampton, Shelby and David McQueen and Annie and Danny McQueen. Others include his grandchildren, Danielle and Abigail Bates, Jobe Tolley, Courtney Tolley, Alexandria, Katarina and Izabella McQueen, as well as his great-grandchildren, Lucas Bates, Nathan Peters, Elana and Joshua Furches; a special cousin, Mabel Tolley; a special nephew, Norman Coffey; and many other nieces, nephews and extended family.
    A graveside service will take place on Saturday, July 30, at 12 noon at the Tolley-Cornett Cemetery in the Fairview Community with Rev. Shane Whittemore and Rev. Henry Berry officiating with Cecil's favorite songs of "Great Speckled Bird," "Me and God" and "I'll Fly Away" being played. Active pallbearers will be Billy Brown, Junior Blevins, Bobby Furches, Nathan Peters and his sons-in-law, Jobe Tolley, Danny and David McQueen. Honorary pallbearers will be Mabel Tolley, Norman Coffey, Landon Lingerfelt, Robert "Bob" Potter and the current and previous staff of the Unicoi County Gas Utility District. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet the family at the Tolley-Cornett Cemetery off Whittemore Road at 11:50 a.m. Saturday. It was Cecil's wish to arrive at the cemetery via horse and wagon from the Fairview FWB Church, courtesy of Les Roberson and Landon Lingerfelt, on Saturday.

    Cecil married Georgia Ray Blevins on 26 May 1962 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Georgia (daughter of Frank Blevins and Pearl Caroline Byrd) was born about 1942 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 11 Aug 2021 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Tolley Cemetery, , Carter County, Tennessee.     FLAG POND - Lennie H. "Shorty" Bales, age 89, 545 Gentry Mountain Road, Flag Pond, passed away on Sund ay, April 30, 2017 in the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital.

    She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Roby Hardin and Nancy Tolley Brummett. Mrs. Bales was a homemaker. She was of the protestant faith. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Bales in 1987; four brothers: Ernest Hardin, Robert Hardin, Bill Brummett and Wayne Brummett; one sister, Virgie McLaughlin.

    She leaves behind to cherish her memories, three brothers: Paul Brummett, Cleveland, OH, Ted Brummett and wife, Jean, Akron, OH, Raymond Brummett and wife, Clara, Unicoi; two sisters: Helen Alford, Johnson City, June Powers and husband, Page, Unicoi; sister-in-law, Wanda Brummett, Unicoi; lots of nieces, nephews and cousins that loved her dearly; friends and caregivers, Dean and Shannon Cooper and family.

    The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will follow in the Tolley-Cornett Cemetery.     JOHNSON CITY - Helen Brummett Alford, 86, Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord and join her husband Billy Saturday, December 30, 2017, at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

    Mrs. Alford was a Unicoi County native, but had lived most of her life in Johnson City.

    She was a daughter of the late Sam and Nancy Tolley Brummett.

    Mrs. Alford worked in the textile industry, first with Leon-Ferenbach and later retiring from Bemberg. Following retirement she worked as a cashier at The Meat Shop.

    Mrs. Alford was a member of Southwestern Baptist Church.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Alford in 2012, four brothers, Ernest and Robert Hardin, Bill and Wayne Brummett, two sisters, Virgie McLaughlin and Lena Bales.

    Mrs. Alford is survived by her daughter, Nancy "Lannie" Alford Watts and husband Keith, Telford; her grandson, Justin Levi Watts, Johnson City; three brothers, Paul Brummett, Cleveland, OH, Ted Brummett and wife Jean, Akron, OH, Raymond Brummett and wife Clara, Unicoi; one sister, June Powers and husband Page, Unicoi; a sister-in-law, Wanda Brummett, Unicoi; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

    The family would like to thank Dr. Steve Webb, Dr. Hamati, Dr. Garcia, and the nurses and staff of the 2nd floor of the Johnson City Medical Center, for the excellent care.

    The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at 7:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Rev. Greg Salyer, officiating.

    The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:30- 7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.

    The committal service and entombment will be held Wednesday at 12:00 noon in the Mausoleum of Roselawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
