- Blaine Greer, 83, 281 Timothy Branch Road, Butler, Tennessee, passed away Friday, July 23, 2004 at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. He was a native of Johnson County, Tennessee, born April 18, 1921 to the late David Marshall Greer and Bertha Rambo Greer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Courtner-Greer, who passed away May 2002, three brothers and five sisters. He retired from Summers-Taylor Construction and was also a retired farmer. He had attended Bethel Baptist Church. He was a World War II Veteran having served in the United States Army.
Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Greer, Norfolk, Virginia and Beulah Carr, Elizabethton, Tennessee; one brother, Dolphus Greer, Orlando, Florida; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Mae Robinson, Butler, Tennessee.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at 11 a.m. from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Stout and Daniel Thomas officiating.
Military graveside services and burial followed in Sunset Memorial Park and was accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard.
Active pallbearers were Dean Jones, Harless Cox, Ronnie Greer, Tracey Greer, Jerry Courtner and Jack Courtner.
Honorary pallbearers were Mark McEwen and Daniel McEwen.
