- Barbara Louise Collins, age 80, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at NHC Healthcare, Johnson City.
Born in Manchester, NH, on December 30, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Samuel L. and Blanche M. Mitchell and sister of the late Frederick Wellington Mitchell, Bridgeport, CT.
She was a retired career military wife and homemaker that resided in Johnson City, Tennessee, since 1964. She was a member of The Pearl Harbor Survivors Association (surviving spouse's group) and The Humane Society of the United States. Mrs. Collins was Irish Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, George P. Collins, on January 2, 1991, originally of Butler, Tennessee and retired from the United States Air Force and Thorp & Co., Johnson City, TN.
Mrs. Collins is survived by two sons, Patrick B. (Pat) Collins, Johnson City, Tennessee, and Gary M. Collins, Las Vegas, NV; several great grandchildren and grandchildren, including Adam and Alex Collins, Johnson City, Tennessee.
A graveside service and interment will be conducted on Friday, December 10, 2010, at 1:00 PM at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tennessee, where she will be laid to rest with her husband. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
