- Clarence Tolley
Clarence Tolley, 78, 112 Clarence Tolley Lane, Scioto Community, Unicoi,
died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Mr. Tolley was a native of Carter County and had lived in Unicoi County for
the past 60 years. He was a son of the late Dock and Jane Moore Tolley and was
also preceded in death by two brothers, John Tolley and Jim Tolley, and
three sisters, Manda Carver, Mary Bowers and Nancy Brummett.
Mr. Tolley was a member of the CCC's and was a U.S. Army veteran, having
served in World War II. He retired from the U.S. Forestry Service. He attended
Unicoi Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Irene J. Robinette Tolley, Unicoi; a son and
daughter-in-law, Jerry D. and Teresa Tolley, Virginia Beach, Va.; two daughters
and a son-in-law, Anne and Hobart Roberts and Deborah Brummitt, all of
Unicoi; a sister, Eula Boling, Lake Placid, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Douglas
W. Roberts, Eric A. Brummitt, Justin D. Brummitt, Rachel C. Tolley and
Elizabeth J. Tolley. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

TOLLEY -- Funeral services for Clarence Tolley, 78, 112 Clarence Tolley
Lane, Scioto Community, Unicoi, who died Sunday, March 17, 2002, will be held at
8 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, from the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor
Ronnie Holloway and Pastor Dexter Brummitt officiating. Music will be provided
by Luanne Powers. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m.
Wednesday, March 20, at Roselawn Memory Gardens, Johnson City. Full military
grave rites will be rendered by the Kingsport VFW Post #3382. Active pallbearers
will be Don Brummett, Gerald Brummett, Alan Brummett, Page Powers, James
Powers, Jimmy Brummett, Larry Brummett and Edison Wallin. Honorary pallbearers
will be the Men's Sunday School Class of Unicoi Church of God. Pallbearers are
requested to assemble at the funeral home by 730 p.m. Tuesday and at the
cemetery by 1030 a.m. Wednesday. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8
p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a
daughter, Mrs. Hobart (Anne) Roberts, 116 Clarence Tolley Lane, Unicoi. The
family, pastors and friends may meet at the cemetery by 1050 a.m. Wednesday.
