- Brian Keith Edwards, age 56, of Erwin, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2020 at his home. A native of Erwin, Keith is a son of the late Ray and Kathleen (Angel) Edwards.
He was a 21 year veteran of the Erwin Police Department where he served as Assistant Police Chief. He was also a Private Investigator, Firefighter, member of the Erwin SWAT Team, Unicoi County Rescue Squad and served 16 years as a Tactical Police Officer for Nuclear Fuel Services. Keith was a 2nd degree Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu and a competition pistol shooter. He held several marksmanship awards and National Championship Shooter awards. He enjoyed riding his Harley and spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.

Nephew: Gary Wayne Edwards, Jr. and wife, Connie Edwards;
Great-nephew: Dusty Ray Edwards;
Great niece: Jaimie Edwards.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Keith’s work family Team 1 at Nuclear Fuel Services, Dr. Charles Miller and Avalon Hospice for their love, care and support during this difficult time. Also, special thanks to Paul Kerr, Chris Nelson, Sammy Morelock and Jason Greer for setting up the Keith Edwards TAC2 Community Fellowship Match that was held for Brian at the Tac2 Range. Thanks to Josh Ricker, Josh Payne, Allen Pennington, Ron Widener, Craig Anspaugh, Jason Huskins and Dewayne Hensley for their continued support.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Brian Keith Edwards in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, September 11, 2020 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Close family friend, Sammy Morelock and Pastor David Fox will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 3:00 pm on Friday, September 11, 2020 and will continue until service time in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 in Evergreen Cemetery. Those attending will meet at Valley Funeral Home by 9:30 am to go in procession to the cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Ricker, Jason Huskins, Allen Pennington, Craig Anspaugh, Josh Payne, Ron Widener, Brent Miller, Paul Kerr, Chris Nelson, Daniel Bowman, Dewayne Hensley, Wayne Edwards, Dylan Brown and Terry Cox. Anyone who rode motorcycles with Keith are asked to ride them to the cemetery.
